Sara Seaba, PA-C, specializes in plastic & reconstructive surgery at Utica Park Clinic. Her professional area of interest includes breast reconstruction. Sara said, “This is my biggest passion for several reasons: No 1 is being part of a patient's battle with breast cancer, No. 2. is providing support through each surgery/appointment and No. 3 is learning so much about each individual patient outside of medicine due to frequent follow-ups. Patients truly become like family by the end of their reconstruction journey.”

When asked how she decided to work in this specialty, Sara said, “Plastic surgery was not something I was always interested in or even knew much about until I started working in the department. However, after working in plastic surgery for almost five years now, I have truly grown attached to plastic surgery and cannot picture myself working in any other specialty. Caring for patients during some of their most vulnerable times, not just being their PA but also a friend or hand to hold, brings me so much joy and fulfillment in my job.”

Sara’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine originally began when she was a child attending her routine checkups at her pediatrician’s office. “He was the best - always making appointments fun by making animal noises in my ears or nose, while also teaching the importance of safety and health,” she said. “I have tried to incorporate those concepts into plastic and reconstructive surgery - trying to connect to patients on a light-hearted, personal level while also providing care through some of the toughest times of their lives.”

Now, as Sara provides care and comfort, she makes a strong effort to listen and be understanding. She said, “I enjoy educating patients and relating to them on interests outside of medicine.”

Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and two Labrador Retrievers, traveling, walking, running, tennis and just doing any outdoor activities.
