Geriatrics

Geriatric care is a form of primary health care that is specific to the unique needs of elderly patients. Geriatricians specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and disability in older adults. They welcome the opportunity to help seniors who struggle with frailty, incontinence, frequent falls, memory loss, medication-related side effects and much more. Much of the goal of geriatrics is to assist older adults in remaining as independent as possible.

The age range of geriatric patients varies. While 65 is often the age a person starts to need the help of a geriatric health care provider, many patients do not need geriatrics expertise until age 70 or 75.
