William Butron, M.D., specializes in internal medicine and pediatrics and speaks fluent in Melanesian Pidgin.
“I grew up overseas in Singapore and Papua New Guinea and had an opportunity in high school to volunteer with a mobile clinic that served a slum in the capitol city of Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. I was moved by the tangible difference we were able to make for the people we served. I knew after this that I wanted to be in health care and become a doctor where I felt I could make the biggest difference,” says Dr. Butron.
His goal ever since has always been to become a pediatrician, but it wasn’t until during school that he realized he wanted to add another specialty to his profession. “During medical school I worked at the OU Bedlam clinic and decided that I did not want to give up adult care. This led me to complete my residency in internal medicine and pediatrics, which allows me to take care of patients of all ages,” he said.
As Dr. Butron provides care to patients of all ages, one of his priorities is to actively listen to his patients. “I enjoy getting to know people and building relationships. It is important to me to listen to my patients and do my best to understand their concerns and goals of care,” he says.
Dr. Butron’s education includes:
• Residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine (OU-Tulsa), 2015
• Medical degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa, 2011
• Bachelor of Science in biology at Oral Roberts University (ORU) in Tulsa, 2007
His areas of interest include transitional care for pediatric patients with complex medical conditions transitioning into adulthood and adult cystic fibrosis (CF).
When Dr. Butron isn’t working at the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys woodworking and making knives as a hobby.
He welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans at the following location:
