Spencer Hylander, APRN-CNP, practices pulmonary & critical care for Utica Park Clinic at Hillcrest Medical Center. He is motivated by his love for those who are closest to him. “If anyone in my family were hospitalized, I would want their health care provider to be as knowledgeable as possible,” he says. “By continuing my education and training and keeping up with the newest treatment trends and the latest practice guidelines, I am able to provide the highest level of care that I can,” he says.

Spencer enjoys the challenge of being part of the intensive care unit and working with critically ill patients. “It keeps me thinking about the whole picture and what could happen next,” he explains.

His passion for health care began at an early age. “Since 7th or 8th grade, I knew that medicine was the career for me,” he says. “I enjoy learning about the human body and how its complex systems interact with each other to create the whole person.”

When his pulmonary & critical care patients begin their recovery process, Spencer is straightforward and honest with them. “It is a long and hard road,” he tells them, “but the reward is well worth the struggle. Being healthy can open up your world to exciting possibilities and adventures.”

Spencer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Oklahoma Baptist University in 2014. He completed a Master of Science degree in nursing at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama in 2018. He is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Spencer’s personal interests include woodworking, playing golf and spending time with his family. “My wife and I enjoy traveling and food of all types,” he adds.

Spencer cares for hospitalized patients at Hillcrest Medical Center at 1120 S. Utica Ave. in Tulsa.
