About Shannon White, APRN-CNP, DNP
Shannon White, APRN-CNP, DNP, specializes in pediatrics at Utica Park Clinic. Her professional area of interests are all things pediatrics and patient education.
Shannon was inspired to pursue a career in medicine because she enjoys helping people. Choosing pediatrics as her specialty was a decision that came about quickly. She said, “I knew as soon as I did my first clinical rotation in pediatrics that this was what I was supposed to do. I love children. They are so resilient.”
Now, as Shannon works to provide care to children of all ages, she understands the value of building relationships with her patients and their parents. She said, “In pediatrics, you have to earn the trust of both the parent/caregiver, as well as the child/patient. Earning their trust is key, so that requires being open, honest and kind. I am a mother, so I try to treat each patient as I would like my own child treated. Also, speaking to parents as I would wish to be spoken to, making them a part of the plan. This is their child, and everyone has to be on board for the child to get the best care.”
A piece of advice Shannon likes to share is that, “We are a team and working together is the best way for you to be successful.”
When Shannon isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, traveling and reading.
