Barry Dockery, D.O., specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine. “I have a passion for physical activity and the positive effect it has on the human body. When someone is injured or has pain it not only takes a toll physically, but mentally as well. To get people back to what they enjoy doing in life is the greatest form of medicine,” said Dr. Dockery.
Dr. Dockery became interested in the medical field when he realized he could combine his passion of serving, connecting and creating relationships with others into a career. “My whole life has been built on the models of relationships and service which originated with my parents and my faith,” he said.
When it comes to maintaining good health, Dr. Dockery likes to make sure patients have all the education and options to make an informed decision. He likes to do this by laying the foundation of trust and building relationships, which will later help with providing accountability and support throughout the process of reaching your health goal. “Medicine isn’t about telling someone what to do,” Dr. Dockery said.
Dr. Dockery’s education includes:
• Fellowship with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) primary care sports medicine program, 2022
• Family medicine residency at Oklahoma State University (OSU) Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, 2021
• Medical degree in osteopathic medicine at William Carey University in Mississippi, 2017
• Master of science in biology degree at Mississippi College, 2011
• Bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Arkansas, 2008
Outside of working at the clinic, Dr. Dockery, who is a huge Arkansas Razorbacks’ fan, enjoys exercising, specifically CrossFit and Olympic lifting. He also likes backpacking and spending time outdoors with his wife and two dogs.
