About Raad Al Awamleh, M.D.
Raad Al Awamleh, M.D., specializes in family medicine at Utica Park Clinic (UPC). His professional areas of interest include preventive care and chronic disease management. “I like helping patients stay healthy, and I enjoy the challenge of working with complex, ongoing conditions to improve quality of life,” he said.
Dr. Awamleh’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine began at a young age when he would join his mom at her doctor’s appointments. “I didn’t understand everything at the time, but I remember how the doctors made her feel safe and cared for. That experience sparked something in me. She passed away during my second year of medical school, and it was the hardest moment of my life. But it also deepened my commitment to medicine. I’ve learned that being a doctor means making sacrifices - including time with loved ones - to show up for others when they need you most. That’s a responsibility I take to heart.”
When Dr. Awamleh began to study medicine, every subject was fascinating. That’s when family medicine became clearer to him as his specialty of choice. “Family medicine stood out because it’s broad, flexible and lets me care for all kinds of patients across every stage of life. Family means a lot to me, and this specialty lets me build lasting relationships while staying curious and well-rounded.”
Dr. Awamleh understands the value of a good relationship with each patient, which is why he keeps each appointment judgment-free and collaborative. “I treat my patients like I would someone I care about - always with respect, honesty and compassion. I take time to listen and connect, because trust is the foundation of good care,” he said.
When it comes to sharing advice with patients, he says, “Life’s short - take care of your health, but also make time to enjoy your life and find peace. Stress less, move more and do what makes you feel alive.”
In recognition of his dedication to lifelong learning and commitment to excellence, Dr. Awamleh was honored with the Academic Excellence Award from the DeTar Family Medicine Residency Program (2024-2025), awarded for academic distinction and achieving the highest board exam score in his class.
Outside of work, Dr. Awamleh enjoys going on walks, trying new restaurants with his wife, visiting family, catching a good show or just relaxing with music. He adds, “I like learning something new when I can, even if it’s random - whether it’s a fun fact, a new skill or just exploring a topic that grabs my attention. And sometimes I break the routine with a spontaneous road trip or a new experience just to keep life interesting. It all helps me reset and stay sharp for my patients.”
