David Scheck, M.D., is board certified in infectious diseases. Dr. Scheck oversees the diagnosing and treating of infectious diseases for Utica Park Clinic and Hillcrest Medical Center. He also establishes procedures and practices to reduce the risk for infections. He manages a broad array of diseases caused by germs ranging from viral to bacterial infections.

Dr. Scheck has practiced at Hillcrest Medical Center since 1994. “Hillcrest Medical Center and Utica Park Clinic are fortunate to have superb onsite microbiology technicians and services,” Dr. Scheck said. “These services improve the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases for our patients, both in hospital and in the clinic. They include access to the most advanced diagnostic testing through our onsite laboratory, as well as collaborative relationships with local and national reference laboratories.”

Dr. Scheck is also involved with a strong hospital antibiotic stewardship program that seeks to optimize the use of – and patient exposure to – antibiotics. In collaboration with the microbiology laboratory and pharmacy team, he is consistently working to improve on the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

Dr. Scheck received a Bachelor of Science degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 1982. Over the course of his career, Dr. Scheck has completed several research publications and clinical investigation studies. Through ongoing education and training, he stays up to date with new technologies and advanced diagnostic options.

When he is away from the office, Dr. Scheck enjoys traveling and exploring the world. “It keeps me humble, expands my curiosity about life and refreshes my belief in the goodness of humanity”, he said.
