About Dugan Ridenour, PA-C

With experience as a first responder, Dugan is no stranger to serving his community. That is what inspired him to further his knowledge to become more involved in people’s care process. He said, “Being a firefighter in the local area for many years, I was involved with the emergency side of patient care in critical times. However, I had a strong calling to be more involved with the overall health and outcome that long-term care can provide.”

Before Dugan pursued a career as a firefighter, he spent four years in the aviation industry, an experience that helped him choose this specialty. He said, “Orthopedic surgery provides an avenue to physically correct structural pathology. I was likely drawn to this aspect of medicine due to my background in aviation mechanics.”

Now, as Dugan provides care, he also works to build lasting relationships with his patients. “In this specialty, most patients have endured many years of symptoms. I feel that allowing patients to fully express their symptoms uninterrupted and leaving the appointment feeling heard, is the most effective way to gain buy-in on treatment plans,” he said.

Dugan’s reminder to people is that, “Pain is the predominant symptom as the reason for visit. I try to make the visit as lighthearted as possible.” He adds, “Let’s try plan A-G before discussing surgery.”

Outside of work, Jared enjoys fishing, exercising and participating in motorsports.
