About Steve Griffin, M.D.
Steve Griffin, M.D., specializes in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) at Utica Park Clinic (UPC) in Pryor. His professional areas of interest include robotic surgery and prolapse.
Dr. Griffin’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine came from a purpose that was close to his heart. He said, “I’ve wanted to be a doctor as long as I can remember. I try to listen to God’s calling in my life and this is where he has led me.”
As his education evolved, he ended up narrowing his focus to women’s health care, a specialty he cared about. “I love women’s health care. It’s really the only subspecialty where you can be someone’s doctor for most of their life and their surgeon,” he said.
When it comes to building relationships with his patients, Dr. Griffin said he likes to spend time learning about their families. “I find their families are often as important as their other medical needs. Often, I end up taking care of multiple family members, so it also helps me feel like I’m part of their family in my own way,” he said.
A piece of advice he likes to remind patients is, “Moms have to take care of themselves or they can’t take care of their families.”
When Dr. Griffin isn’t working, he can be found training for triathlons. He added, “I’ve qualified for the World Championships a few times. But mostly I like hanging out with my wife and kids. Mandy is a pediatrician and she’s my best friend.”
