About Amanda Whytal, D.O.
Amanda Whytal, D.O., specializes in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) at Utica Park Clinic (UPC) on the campus of Hillcrest Hospital South. Her professional areas of interest include gynecological surgery and obstetrical care.
“I feel like my specialty encompasses many different aspects of medicine and I enjoy them all. I get to do preventative gynecology care, obstetrical care, surgical procedures and delivering babies, which is my favorite,” said Dr. Whytal.
Dr. Whytal was inspired by the positive experiences with her childhood family doctor to pursue a career in medicine. She said, “No matter if I was sick, worried or scared when I went in to see him, I always left feeling like he truly cared about me and my health. He always had a plan and to get me through anything I was dealing with.”
Dr. Whytal never forgot how she felt as a patient and wanted to make sure that those who walked into an appointment with her felt the same way. “I want them to feel comfortable talking to me about anything. I am very approachable and try to be very open-minded when it comes to them participating in their own health care and choices,” she said.
When it comes to advice and words of encouragement for her patients, Dr. Whytal said, “I try to convince them to just take one step or day at a time and try to leave the what ifs and worrying to me.”
Outside of work, Dr. Whytal loves spending time with her husband and kids. “I like to watch them participate in all of their activities. We love to travel and are always planning our next getaway,” she added.
