About Amanda Griffin, M.D.
Amanda Griffin, M.D., specializes in pediatrics at Utica Park Clinic (UPC) in Pryor. “Developing relationships with patients and their families is my favorite part of being a pediatrician. This is even more fun with my husband as an OB-GYN [Stephen Griffin, M.D.], as we often have the privilege of taking care of both the mom and the kids as a pair! The deep connections we have made with families is what keeps us going,” said Dr. Griffin.
Dr. Griffin loves caring for children and has always known she would work with them in some sort of way. She said, “I have loved kids from a young age. I grew up playing ‘school’ with my siblings and neighbors. Once I decided to go into medicine instead of teaching, pediatrics was the natural fit.”
Dr. Griffin’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine came from the encouragement of those closest to her. “While no one in my family is in the medical field, I was told from a young age that I should be a doctor. I tried to follow God’s call on my life and medicine combined my passions of caring for others, education and ministry,” she said.
Now, years later, after expanding her knowledge and skills, she likes to remind those caring for her young patients that, “Our goals are the same - to do what is best for your child. But I need you to trust my education and expertise and I will listen to your concerns and we will make a great team.”
Dr. Griffin goes on to add, “I have spent much of my career to this point taking care of medically complex patients and educating medical students and residents. I am excited to bring my experience to a new area.”
When Dr. Griffin isn’t working, she says she enjoys being a wife and mom. “I love caring for my husband and two kids,” she said.
