Richard Drake, D.O., is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery at Utica Park Clinic. He is board certified, and fellowship-trained in spinal surgery and diseases of the spine. He is a native Tulsan and has practiced in Tulsa since completing his spine surgery fellowship in 2009. He performs surgeries at Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital, Hillcrest Medical Center and Hillcrest Hospital South.
Dr. Drake is an experienced and accomplished spine surgeon. He currently serves as the director of the spine service and clinical assistant professor for the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Orthopedic Surgery Residency. Dr. Drake participates in ongoing clinical research and medical education. He is a routine speaker and has participated in numerous presentations to his peers covering various topics related to spine surgery.
Having performed thousands of spinal surgeries, Dr. Drake is proficient in and enjoys all aspects of his practice. He has extensive experience in both minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Dr. Drake graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa and went on to obtain a B.S. in biology at Oklahoma State University in 1996. Afterward, Dr. Drake decided to pursue medical school and additional post-graduate opportunities such as:
• Completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Center for Spinal Disorders at Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, in 2009
• Completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Oklahoma State Medical Center in Tulsa, in 2008
• Doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree at Oklahoma State University (OSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, in 2002
When Dr. Drake is not working, he loves anything outdoors. “I have a small farm, you can usually find me there on the tractor or working on something.”
