Conner Moslander, D.O., specializes in pulmonology and critical care at Utica Park Clinic on the campus of Hillcrest Medical Center. Although he enjoys all aspects of his specialties, Dr. Moslander said he finds particular joy in community outreach, and in teaching and education.
Dr. Moslander’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine began when he started to volunteer his time with a few nonprofit organizations. One was dedicated to pediatric oncology research and the other one helped families of children diagnosed with cancer. “It was then that I was fortunate to be exposed to the clinical side of medicine after having the opportunity to work with providers through these organizations. As an outsider, witnessing the bond between physician and patient was something that seemed fulfilling to me and I noticed how happy I felt when I volunteered/worked in a clinic/with clinicians. It was these experiences and growth from others that led me to where I am today,” he said.
Although Dr. Moslander grew up with his own personal visits to the pulmonologist, he never envisioned himself as the one providing the care. He said, “Throughout residency I found myself feeling most fulfilled seeing patients in clinic with pulmonary concerns as well as taking care of patients and families during some of the toughest times in their lives while in the ICU. I feel that each day is a different day within pulmonology and intensive care, and you can grow relationships with people both in the hospital and in the clinic.”
As Dr. Moslander continues to provide care, he also makes an effort to get to know his patients and what brings them comfort. He said, “I really enjoy talking about personal and social aspects of a patient's life when we first meet. Whether this is talking about sports, television, binge-worthy shows, books or food – I like to find common ground with each patient this way and then build on it from there.”
At the end of the day, Dr. Moslander continues to remind patients, and even their families, that the best thing they can be is their own advocate.

Outside of work, Dr. Moslander’s top enjoyments are food, coffee and running. “You can usually find me on Riverside going for a run followed by a bite to eat at a new restaurant recommendation then picking up a coffee to go. I'm kind of a homebody so I enjoy being at home watching TV or a game with my dog or reading a good book with some music in the background. I do have a travel itch, so am always looking for weekend getaways or travel abroad opportunities or recommendations,” he said.
