Specialty
Ellen Conn, APRN-CNP, specializes in family medicine at Utica Park Clinic. Her professional areas of interest include public health and disease prevention.
Ellen’s inspiration to pursue medicine came from someone close to her heart. She said, “My mom inspired me to go into nursing. She is a retired LPN who worked hard her entire career. I wasn't on the path to go into nursing, but she saw something in me, so she encouraged me to look into it. I have never looked back.”
Ever since becoming a nurse, Ellen has found joy in meeting and caring for people of all ages. She knew specializing in family medicine would allow her to continue to do so.
As she works to provide care and meet new patients, Ellen values the relationships built along the way. “One of my goals is to make sure my patients feel heard. I listen to their concerns, and I include them in the decision-making process in their plan of care,” she said.
When it comes to advice, Ellen reminds patients to, “Make sure you ask questions and understand any instructions given. The more they understand the why of advice the more likely they are to follow through.”
When Ellen isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband of nearly 30 years and her family. She adds, “I have five kids and five grandkids, and they are my hobby.”
Ellen’s education and career experience include:
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Maryville University, St. Louis, MO, 2020
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Bartlesville, OK, 2015
• Associate degree in applied science as a registered nurse (RN) at Rogers State University, Claremore, OK, 2000
