Dustin Cupp, D.O., MSHD, CPE, FAAFP specializes in family medicine at Utica Park Clinic. His professional areas of interest include population health, clinical quality and increasing the value in health care.
Dr. Cupp’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine came from a deeper purpose to fulfill life’s work. He said, “I have always viewed my role in medicine as a calling, a vocation rather than simply a career. That calling is based on my Christian faith and desire to use my gifts and talents in a way that honors God and ministers to others. Combining ministry with medicine has been my driving force from the beginning of my health care journey.”
“I chose to pursue the specialty of family medicine due to the relational opportunities it affords longitudinally with patients and their families as well as the comprehensive nature of the specialty. I love being able to care for multiple generations from the same family and build long-term relationships built on mutual trust that puts the patient and their family first,” said Dr. Cupp.
When it comes to building relationships with patients, Dr. Cupp puts listening at the forefront of all his interactions. He adds, “Listening demonstrates respect and lets the patient set the agenda for the visit. I also foster a relationship of trust based on honesty and openness in regards to an individual's health and their desired health goals.”
His favorite advice he likes to share with patients is, “Prevention is the best medicine! Followed by laughter.”
