Sarah Winer, APRN-CNP, is a telehealth provider with Utica Park Clinic who specializes in family medicine. “We all have to be our own advocates when it comes to our health. If you feel like something is going on, trust your instincts and have it checked out. There is no price on peace of mind,” she said.
Sarah’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine began when she was just a kid. “My mother worked in a hospital pharmacy when I was a young child, and she took me to the onsite daycare center at the hospital. It was during that time I became interested in becoming a nurse. I was fascinated by seeing the ambulances, helicopters and medical personnel when I was playing outside on the daycare playground. I remember running to the fence to try and get a better look at what was going on. I also got to witness my baby sister's birth when I was 10 and that is what inspired me to get into labor and delivery nursing,” she said.
After working years in the emergency department and in labor & delivery, Sarah decided to become a family medicine provider so she could help serve all populations across varying lifespans.
Now, as a family medicine provider, Sarah builds relationships with her patients based on the foundation of empathy. “I love learning all I can about my patients. I think it is important for my patients to feel like they can share anything with me. I am attentive and I will also share things back with them about my personal life or experiences that pertain to what they have going on. This helps create a sense of understanding and helps build trust,” she said.
When Sarah isn’t working, she enjoys riding motorcycles with her family, spending time with her husband and six children, going on date nights and traveling as much as possible.
Sarah’s education and career experience include:
• Master of Science in nursing (MSN) degree at Maryville University, 2022
• Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree at the University of Texas in Arlington, 2019
• Associate degree in nursing at Rogers State University (RSU), 2013
Her professional areas of interest include emergency room care, obstetrics (OB) and family medicine.
She welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
