Majd Kabbani, M.D., specializes in general surgery and endocrine surgery at Utica Park Clinic on the campus of Hillcrest Hospital South. Trained by experts in the field, Dr. Kabbani completed a residency program in general surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria and a fellowship program in endocrine surgery at The Cleveland Clinic, allowing him to provide the highest quality of care to patients. Along with English, Dr. Kabbani is also fluent in speaking Arabic. His professional areas of interest include thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands disorders, neuroendocrine tumors, along with all aspects of general surgery including gallbladder disease, small bowel disorders and malignancy, ventral and incisional hernias, inguinal hernias, and skin lesions.

“My love of general surgery comes from the ability to be able to work with my hands to provide patients with immediate relief of their problems to help facilitate healthier and happier lives,” Dr. Kabbani said. “I choose to further focus on endocrine surgery because it combines medical and surgical management in the care of patients. I am also very intrigued with the anatomy and hormonal functionality of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands and how those fit within the function of the entire body.”

When it comes to connecting with patients during a significant time in their life, Dr. Kabbani said, “I try to build relationships with my patients by taking the time to explain to them the disease process they are going through and all their treatment options to be able to make any informed decision together on how to care for them. I want the patient to fully understand what they are going through so that they are well informed. At the end of the day the patient is the one going through the problem and being well informed about it makes them better able to understand what is happening and treat or manage their symptoms much better.”

Dr. Kabbani’s advice he likes to remind patients is to listen to your body and that it takes time to heal.
