Mandy Crutchfield, APRN-CNP, specializes in pediatrics. Her professional areas of interest include neurology and children affected by chronic conditions. “I understand how challenging these conditions can be on a family as a whole and I want to be an encourager and trusted health professional,” she said.
Mandy’s inspiration for pursuing a career in health care began at an early age and continued to grow with her experiences as a paramedic, nurse and now as a nurse practitioner. Her shift from critical care and neurology to now pediatrics occurred in 2019. “At the time, my 5-year-old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Through our personal journey, I learned firsthand that kids are amazingly resilient and powerful human beings, and my love and passion for caring for the pediatric population really flourished,” she said.
Now, when it comes to building relationships with her patients, Mandy values being engaged and involved. “I believe it’s important for the child and the parent to understand that I also want what’s best for the child and I have found that allowing kids to be involved in their assessment and care helps harbor a sense of comfort and trust,” she said. “I often allow the reluctant child to first examine my ears or the parents’ ears and teach them the purpose for what I am about do with them.”
Mandy likes to work with parents on creating strategies that bring the whole family together to build toward a healthy successful lifestyle, and most importantly, a safe environment for a growing child.
Mandy’s education includes:
• Master of Science in nursing (MSN) at Maryville University, 2018
• Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) at Rogers State University, 2014
• Associate degree in applied science for nursing at Rogers State University, 2012
• Associate degree in applied science for paramedic at Rogers State University, 2011
When Mandy isn’t working at the clinic, she can be found spending time with her husband and kids enjoying the outdoors, playing baseball and basketball and taking care of the many animals they have on their farm.
