Current Patient of ProviderSpecialty
Sarah Jameson, APRN-CNP, has been a health care professional since 2013. She started her career as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit prior to finding her love for gastroenterology. She has served as a nurse practitioner in that specialty since 2018. She spent four years in the United States Air Force as an intelligence officer prior to serving in the medical field.
“I often tell my patients that being healthy is a marathon, not a sprint,” she said. “Focus on lifestyle changes that are sustainable long term, rather than ’quick fix’ solutions. Getting healthy doesn’t happen overnight, so celebrate the small goals while working on the end goal.”
Sarah chose a career in health care to help make a difference in the lives of others. “I remember being deployed to Iraq in 2010,” she said. "During my time off, I volunteered at the hospital in Balad. I watched many individuals - American, Iraqi, British, etc. - suffer from illnesses and injuries. I felt called to help impact lives for the better.”
Sarah often says that she didn’t choose gastroenterology; it chose her. “My late grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer when I was in my 20s," she said. “I wasn’t in health care at the time, but I remember her provider saying that this disease was entirely preventable with regular colonoscopies. That stuck with me.” After Sarah joined the health care field, she was drawn to gastroenterology. “I love managing acute gastrointestinal (GI) illnesses and I also love how impactful preventative GI medicine can be. It truly saves lives.”
Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa in 2013. She earned a Master of Science degree as a family nurse practitioner from the University of South Alabama in Mobile in 2017. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Gastroenterology Association.
In her free time, she enjoys running and spending time with her husband and two children.
